Human Connection

The other day I was riding the bus, people watching like I always do. I love noticing the little things—what people are wearing, how they style their hair, how they interact with one another. But this time and most times, I noticed something different. Almost everyone had their face buried in their phone. No eye contact. No small talk. And no connection.

It made me realize how much we’ve drifted from simple, in-person communication. So many of us hide behind screens and social media, and somewhere along the way, we’ve lost the ease of just being present with each other. I mean think about it. Do you find it challenging to strike up a conversation post Covid?

I found myself scanning the bus, hoping to catch someone’s eye just to say hello—but nothing. And while I understand not everyone wants to be bothered, a simple acknowledgment like a smile, or a nod can go a long way. You never know what someone might be going through, and that small moment of connection could mean everything.

So maybe that’s what I’m trying to say: let’s not lose that human touch. The next time you’re out, look up. Make eye contact. Offer a smile, or say hello.

Because connection is still one of the simplest and most powerful gifts we can give.

Sending you love, light and positive vibes,

Cassie K.
