Do it Afraid!

What is fear? Fear is defined by the Webster dictionary as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Too many times in our lives, we allow fear to stop us in our tracks.  We won't even start anything because we are afraid of the outcome. Fear paralyzes us causing us to miss out on the best that God has for us.  The bible teaches us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God has not given us the spirit of timidity and fear, but a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

Ask yourself this, how many times have you allowed fear to stop you from moving in a direction you wanted to go? Recently I was talking to a friend about an opportunity to travel abroad. I have always wanted to leave the comfort of the US and see the world outside of my comfort zone, but I find myself very afraid. Afraid of what you might ask? Well, let me tell you. I am afraid of being so far away from home that if something happens and my family needs me, it's not that easy to get home quick, fast and in a hurry.  I am afraid of the unknown and unfamiliar territory, stepping foot on a continent or in a country that is different from what I am used to here at home.  These are just a couple of the reasons I allow myself to be held back.

Can I tell you a secret? If you let fear stop you, you will never experience anything.  I have said this before in a previous blog post and I feel the need to reiterate to myself and to anyone reading this, FEAR can mean many things.  But what it means for me in this instance is (FEAR - Face Everything and Rise).  It's time for me and you to face our fears. The bible tells us in Isaiah 54:17 that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. This includes the weapon of fear in my mind.

I have a family member who is 70 years old, and she just got back from Japan. She wasn't afraid to travel, and she did it alone.  She was gone for 3 months to celebrate her 70th birthday. She didn't let the fear of the unknown stop her from celebrating herself.  So why am I allowing my fear to stop me.  I travel most of the time solo here in the US so why would traveling abroad be any different?  It shouldn't be.  We have to take the opportunities that we are presented with, especially when it is something that would better us as a person. As I continue to renew my mind and chase out the spirit of fear I know that God will continue to bring opportunities in my direction.  Don't let fear stop you because I am not letting it stop me.

Sending you love, light and positive vibes,

Cassie K.
