Let faith guide you!

These past two weeks have been challenging. As some of you know, I was laid off from my job where I worked for 18 years. I’m doing my best to adjust to this new normal and the significant change in my income. At times, I found myself worrying about how I’ll pay my mortgage and other everyday expenses.

It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions — sadness, frustration, even anger — especially as I reflected on how the situation was handled. I realized I had been focusing too much on the negative and not recognizing the blessing hidden in this change.

Eighteen years is long enough to build more than a résumé. I built friendships, credibility, and comfort. I built a version of myself that felt safe. I didn’t realize how much of my identity was wrapped up in that job until it was gone. I said I trusted God, but I also trusted that direct deposit. I felt secure because of my position and title, but now I know my purpose is bigger than that job.

Losing this job forced me to ask an uncomfortable question: Was I trusting God, or was I trusting my stability?

If my job had been my source, losing it would have destroyed me. But because God is my source, losing my job only changed the method, not the provision. I am not starting from scratch — I’m starting from experience. Those 18 years equipped me for the next chapter, even if this shift feels uncomfortable.

If you’re in a season like mine — maybe you’ve lost a job you’ve held for years or decades — take time to grieve it. Honor what it meant to you and acknowledge the shock. But don’t mistake this transition for destruction.

It may feel like everything is falling apart. Or it could be the moment everything begins to realign.

Let your faith guide you — not because you have all the answers, but because you trust the One who does.

Sending you love, light and positive vibes,

Cassie K.
