when LOVE is more that words.

I was listening to a LIVE on social media the other day, and something hit me hard: there is a huge difference between someone saying they love you and someone being truly in love with you.

We often get caught up in the idea of love and forget that love is more than words.

There was a woman sharing her story about a man who constantly told her he loved her, but his actions rarely reflected those words. He would do things for her—not necessarily what she desired, but what he thought she wanted. And whenever she communicated what she actually needed in the relationship, he continued to fall short.

She had been guarded because of past trauma, but eventually she decided to open up completely. She told him what she needed to feel safe, loved, and secure. And even after opening up to him, she continued receiving crumbs.

Her story reminded me of a relationship I experienced many moons ago.

I had spent so much time explaining how certain things made me feel and reminding the man I cared about what I needed to feel safe in the relationship. I believed that because he told me he loved me, he truly did.

Until I finally realized something painful:

He didn't love me the way I needed to be loved. He loved the idea of me.

He loved what I brought into his life, but he couldn't comprehend what it meant to truly love me. No matter how much of myself I poured into him, I always felt like I was falling short.

But being in love with me required something deeper. It requires intention. It requires curiosity about who I am and what I need. It requires listening when I communicate. It requires caring enough to make adjustments - not because I am forcing you to, but because my well-being genuinely matters to him.

That's when I learned that love isn't just something you say. It's something you demonstrate. And sometimes the hardest realization is understanding that you can communicate your needs perfectly and still not receive what you're asking for.

Someone can tell you they love you every day, but if their actions consistently leave you feeling unseen, unheard, unsafe, or unvalued, you have to pay attention to the pattern—not just the promises.

Time for some reflection: Ask yourself this,

Are you being loved, or are you simply being told that you're loved? Do their actions match their words? Do you feel safe expressing your needs? Are you receiving genuine love, or are you surviving on crumbs and calling them a relationship?

Sometimes we hold on because we're in love with someone's potential rather than who they are today.

It can be hard, but we must take an honest look at the relationships in our lives. Stop listening only to what people say and start paying attention to what they consistently show you.

You are not asking for too much by wanting to be loved well.

Don't settle for someone who loves the idea of you. Choose the person who is willing to know you, understand you, honor you, and love the real you.

Because the right kind of love won't just say, "I love you." It will make sure you can feel it.

Sending you love, light and positive vibes,

Cassie K.
