Rest Is Still an Accomplishment

It’s the last Sunday of the year—the quiet pause before the calendar flips and the world starts talking about new beginnings again. This is usually the moment when we look back at our New Year’s resolutions and start counting what we didn’t finish.

Our goals that faded by February. The habits we meant to build but didn’t. The version of ourselves we thought we’d become by now. I know for me I created a video at the beginning of this year with a list of 10 things I wanted to accomplish and I know for almost certain I might have made it to 3. And to be honest, I am okay with that.

And it’s so easy to feel like I am ending the year behind, but believe me, I am not. And neither are you.

Let's not make today, Sunday, about finishing strong, but about resting honestly.

This year asked a lot of us—sometimes more than we expected, sometimes more than we were ready for. I know it did for me. We grew in ways that didn't show up on our checklist. We survived many days that drained us. We kept going even when our motivation disappeared. Those small wins matter, even if it wasn’t written down as one of our a goals.

Remember that rest is not a failure of discipline or response to effort. Not completing every resolution doesn’t mean the year was wasted. It means you and I are human. It means we learned which goals mattered, which ones were unrealistic, and which seasons required us to slow down instead of push harder.

On this last Sunday, we’re allowed to stop striving. We’re allowed to sit with what was instead of what should have been. You and I are allowed to let this year end, gently.

We don’t need to rush into a better version of ourselves before midnight. We don’t need to earn our rest by finishing everything right now. Us being here, still trying, still learning, and still breathing is enough.

So today, let’s choose rest.

Let’s close the year with kindness instead of pressure because the next year will come soon enough.

And we will meet it with a clear mind, body and soul, that is well rested.

Sending you love, light and positive vibes,

Cassie K.
